ABQ Water Introduces Self-Service Payment Kiosk with Bernalillo County

Albuquerque Bernalillo County Water Utility Authority recently launched a new self-service payment option for their customers downtown, through an engagement with CityBase. Water Authority customers can now pay their water and sewer bills at a new, self-service kiosk in the lobby of the Bernalillo County @ Alvarado Square at 415 Silver Ave SW.

“We’re very excited to announce this partnership with the Water Authority,” says Bernalillo County Treasurer Nancy M. Bearce. “For customers visiting the Bernalillo @ Alvarado Square building, as an addition to our one-stop shop model, this kiosk has created the only payment option in the downtown area.”

“It’s a great example of intergovernmental cooperation,” said Water Authority Chairperson Klarissa M. Pena. “We appreciate the County’s offer to place the machine in their facility.”

This partnership provides the only in-person payment option in downtown Albuquerque for Water Authority customers.

The payment kiosk provides a free, secure, and convenient way for customers to pay their utility bills using cash, check, and card. The kiosk provides service in English and Spanish. Water Authority customers who use the new payment kiosk can look up their current balance using their account number, and make a full or partial payment without incurring any fees. A simple payment workflow is easy to understand and takes under a minute on average to complete a transaction.

The Water Authority provides water and wastewater services to the greater Albuquerque metropolitan area. It is the largest water and wastewater utility in New Mexico.

The Water Authority procured the technology by leveraging CityBase’s contract with the Allied States Cooperative, a national purchasing cooperative that competitively awards contracts to U.S. vendors in compliance with local, state, and federal procurement laws and regulations.
