Easy and Equitable: How San Francisco Streamlines Cannabis Business Permitting

The City and County of San Francisco needed a new solution to accept, process, and track adult use recreational cannabis business licenses. Recreational cannabis was legalized in the State of California. San Francisco’s Office of Cannabis and its Office of Digital Services were looking for a solution that would be flexible enough to modify as they designed the new process for permitting across multiple government agencies. The process included several forms and services, including an Equity Application that provides legal assistance and startup support to cannabis entrepreneurs who have been previously incarcerated for nonviolent cannabis offenses. Hear about the city-county’s challenges and successes as they selected a software platform and launched a streamlined solution for cannabis businesses and the government staff who manage the permitting process.
